Writers' Block. The piece of wood you hit your head on till an idea pops out *grimace*. It attacks you out of nowhere. One moment, you're sitting there happily typing away, and the next moment, WHAM! Writers' Block. You can't type. You can't think. You just sit there watching the blinking curser, clicking your pen on and off.
It can truly be a tricky thing. For me, I feel like my writing is dead, my characters are stale, and my ideas are... nonexistent.
But I do have some tips and tricks that help me get out of the rut when I hit it!
Tip #1: Set it Aside
Set aside your writing and take a breath. Reconnect with your story and remember why you love it. Go on a walk. Play some music. Get away from it and forget about it. Come back a few hours (or maybe even a day or two!) later with a better perspective and see if it helped any to get away.
Tip #2: Don't listen to Self-Doubt
Sometimes, Writers' Block is just us doubting ourselves and our writing abilities. We become too paralyzed by fear and doubt, it cripples our ability to create. We need to tune out all the doubt. Listen to God. And know that He will give your the story in His own time.
Tip #3: Journal
Pull out your journal and write down your frustration. Vent on the page. Write out your feelings, and maybe you can find some relief in that :)
Tip #4: Brainstorm
Maybe your Writers' Block isn't you... It's your story. Take a few minutes, and brainstorm other ways you could approach the scene, or an entirely new aspect for the story. That may be all it takes to open up that creative well, and kick Writers' Block to the curb.
Tip #5: Talk it out
Sometimes just talking it over with someone can help immensely. Maybe you can go to your sister. Maybe your mom. It's okay to talk about your writing struggles with non-writers. My mother doesn't write, but I go to her every time I have a writing struggle, and she helps me get through it <3 (love you, Mama!).
I hope some of these things help you! Go get those words in!
How many of these things have you
done? What is something you do to get
over Writers' Block?
Comment below! I'd love to know.

Great tips!!! I often will take a break, then brainstorm, and I get unstuck a day or two (okay, or three LOL) later when a brilliant idea to advance the story pop into my brain! Talking about it with others helps a lot too!
